44.The Lad

Confidence and exuberance was writ on his face
Energetically  he moved around Delhi with grace.
Charmed by his demeanor,I had him seated beside
He stole glances at his watch as if to decide.

Perturbed by his discomfort,I had him talk.
The story he told me had me shocked.

Seeking medication all by himself at AIMS
He had traveled from his village to Delhi's street with an aim.
Dressed in an attire as people of his age
He spoke with an innocence missed at this stage.

Fear and tear were far from his name.
Neither did he crib nor did he blame
Hitching a ride to be on time,
He braved Tumor even before his prime.

A mere lad, scarcely Twelve,  captured my mind.
Teaching me  lessons of life which are hard to find.

His sweet memories untouched unfolds
As I sit and look at the vacant seat beside
In the crowded bus, in the peak hour rush
My lips fervently move in prayer for the lad.
