There are millions of girls even today being married at an age when they should be playing with dolls and nourishing dreams of career. We have been celebrating the birth of this republic for more than six decades.Yet strangely,many girls in our society still perish under the age old dogmas and we look on.For we believe, interfering in others personal life is not our business.Had it been a case of inter-caste marriage or communal clash you would see our furry in the most unimaginative way.Shattered ,my pen pours out what it sees, on this 66th Republic Day.
She is as old as me
A daughter and a son.
She is a dutiful wife
She is the mother of two.A daughter and a son.
Son- in-law and grandchild
Are her pride.
Are her pride.
Soon she will have
A daughter- in- law too;
And be blessed perhaps
With many grand children.
A daughter- in- law too;
And be blessed perhaps
With many grand children.
Her humble settlement
Appears to be filled
With mirth and happiness
Seeking bliss even
In unawareness.
Right to Education
Or Rights of a Girl Child
She never has dared
To think about.
Or did she ?
To be snubbed into silence.
She smiles unfazed
By the plight of her state.
Even after 66 years of
India becoming a Republic.
She is just one of her kind
With no changes seen
In Four score
And two years of her life.
Yet it pains me to seeEven after 66 years of
India becoming a Republic.
This is her plight.
